In fall of 2021, I worked as the Art Department Head and Costumer for God's Army. This was an indie film proof-of-concept, written by Caleb Parazette and directed by Dante Cuestas-Thompson. In pre-production, I worked with the other three team heads, including the director, our cinematographer Scott Almendiger, and our producer, Sara Brown, to come up with a cohesive creative vision on a budget.
For this short, I built a 6-foot cross, digitally painted and had printed on canvas an original painting of Jesus holding the United States Constitution, sourced props, costumes, and set dressing from low-budget locations, and created print-outs, posters, and fake products to flesh out the world of God's Army.
During our three-day production, I did set-dressing, helped actors with their costumes, and worked with the director and makeup artist to make sure that everything fit our vision for the film.
In spring of 2017, I worked with two other student filmmakers—Leandra Benson-White and Jazmin Kopacz—to conceive of and animate a Hawaiian folktale in the style of Lotte Reiniger.
The black paper-cutout puppets were designed and constructed by myself.
In 2018, the short animation was featured at the BendFilm Festival in Bend, OR.
MY SENIOR CAPSTONE FILM
In March of 2019 I premiered my senior capstone film, Grade A. For my Film & Video major at Pacific University, I wrote, directed, and edited this short comedic fantasy about two college students, Willow & Fox, who are paired on a project to keep a baby dragon egg safe.
I was also in charge of the artistic direction, props, and costume design for this short film. For Grade A I constructed four "dragon eggs" out of styrofoam, spray paint... and a lot of thumbtacks!
I directed and filmed this retro-style music video for The Seventeens' cover of "Georgie Girl" in the autumn of 2020.
At Sleeper's Mountain Studios in Portland, Oregon, I worked as a DSLR cinematographer for artist Spencer Thomas as he performed his songs "Woman Who Smokes Cigars" and "Traveling Angel."
The Tuality Plains Great Grains Initiative worked with Scott Wray media to produce a mini documentary, on which I worked as a cinematographer.
